'Is There Progress in Economics? should be given relatively high marks. First, the quality of the papers is quite high, and second, the editors did a relatively good job of selecting, arranging and editing the contributions so that the volume really does focus on the question in its title. the editors' introduction also contributes to the overall effect by attempting to tie all of the papers together into a reasonably tight bundle.' - D. Wade Hands, Economic Record This thought-provoking book discusses the concept of progress in economics and investigates whether any advance has been made in its different spheres of research. the authors look back at the history, successes and failures of their respective fields and thoroughly examine the notion of progress from an epistemological and methodological perspective.

I find all of the 'For Dummies' books an excellent primer for learning new things. This is no exception in providing a nice overview what what the application can do and how to do it. These books are never a one-and-done type of learning. You'll have to put in the time and also follow along in the training videos. Still, I always look for this type of book as a quick, easy-to-read overview.
Tableau for Dummies is a garbage book. Sure, it has pretty colors, but I learned virtually nothing. It might explain how to perform something in a step-by-step manner, but the graphics don't usually follow them very well. A lot of times, the author throws too much at the reader that it's simply paralsysis by function overload. All in all, you are better off going to Udemy, YouTube, Coursera, or Tableau's website to learn how the program works by watching videos because they are high in pedagogy...more

This is a good introduction to using Tableau but it does not get much further than general definitions and basic examples. I believe you will learn more from the online video tutorials that Tableau provides for free.
If you do not have internet access or prefer to read rather than watch videos this will allow you to become proficient in the basics of using the software. If you already have some exposure to the system you can skip this book or just read the last 50 or so pages.

Easy-to-follow guide to get started on Tableau, be familiar with its navigation, and have a big picture understanding of its feature. It is however still insufficient in providing various examples/case studies of using it for deeper analysis.

Not much better than the free online video tutorials from Tableau
The For Dummies books can be hit or miss: sometimes you get a really useful and insightful introduction to a subject, sometimes you get a book that just gives you the really basic stuff. This book is of the second kind. You get to see how the software works, but you get no insights into how to start improving your visualizations or anything of the kind.
